Tourism - Occitanie

Occitanie is a region of France that has five departments. It is bordered by Spain, Andorra and the Mediterranean Sea. Main cities are Carcassonne, Nîmes, Montpellier, Mende and Perpignan.

The five departments of this region are all different as well as being complementary. Gard, Hérault, Aude, Lozere and Pyrénées Orientales are all facing the sea. About 200 km of littoral shelters modern marinas such as the Grande-Motte as well as picturesque villages such as Sete and Aigues Mortes. Lozere alone isn’t by the sea although it has some curiosities to visit such as Aven Armand or Gorges of Tarn.

The region has a rich historical heritage and maintains differences with Provence and the Catalan country with Cathar Castles, Montpellier the university town, Roman Nîmes, anchovies of Collioure and the Canigou Mountain.

Also, there are many cultural events all year round with festivals such as ‘Drom Festival et autres cultures nomades’ in Nîmes, the Ferias in Nîmes, the ‘Chapiteuf’ in Castelnaudary and the ‘Troubadours chantent l’art roman en Occitanie’ in Montpellier and many more.
