Tourism Limoux
Limoux is a town in the department of Aude in Languedoc-Roussillon region.
This city is famous for its wine, called Blanquette Champagne, which is manufactured according to method champenoise. This sparkling wine is considered one of the oldest sparkling wine in the world.
Visitors will find very few ruins dating from the prehistoric or ancient. The only element that shows human occupation in prehistoric menhir is a "Stone Right" in a nearby village. The Gallo-Roman era is recalled by the remains of a villa in a neighborhood of the city.
A walk in the city will take visitors to recontre pretty mansions dating from the 15th century. It is possible to see remains of ancient fortifications. The city has three bridges that are worth visiting.
Finally, Limoux is famous for its carnival, which is considered the longest in the world: it takes almost three months! The parades are three times of the day, on different themes.
