Chateau de Versailles
The Palace of Versailles was the place of residence of the Kings of France such as LouisXIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI. This royal palace is one of the most remarkable in France and in the world, thanks to its beauty and the historical events that took place there. The palace is a succession of buildings giving an harmonious architectural aspect to the whole place.
The surface is 67,000 m2 and has about 2,000 rooms. The park of the Palace of Versailles boasts 815 ha of land of which 93 ha are gardens. This includes other éléments such as the Grand Trianon and the Petit Trianon, The queen’s hamlet, the Grand and the Petit Canal, a menagerie, and the orangery
The Palace of Versailles became a historical monument (1862) and was declared a World Heritage Site in 1979. The continual renovations continue to make Versailles more welcoming and the Grand Versailles project started in 2003 aims to anchor this masterpiece of the seventeenth century in our twenty-first century, thanks to new technologies and virtual tours. The Château de Versailles is perhaps the most outstanding monument in the history of our country.
