Château du Marais


Castle du Marais is a French chateau located in the municipality of Val-Saint-Germain, near Saint-Cheron, in the former province of Hurepoix today Essonne department and the Ile-de-France region, thirty-six kilometers southwest of Paris. Built by the architect Jean-Benoît-Vincent Barré for Jean Le Maitre de La Martiniere, Treasurer General of Artillery and Engineering, he is considered one of the most remarkable examples of Louis XVI-style chateau near Paris. It belonged successively to the great aristocratic families like Noailles, Castellane, Talleyrand-Perigord and Pourtales.
