Musée Rodin
Musée Rodin is situated in the heart of Paris, in Paris’ 7th arrondissement and in Meudon (hauts de Seine), with these two sites, the museum is one of the most visited (the 8th in France) with almost 500,000 visitors on average each year. The success of international artist Rodin also attracts a large number of foreign tourists.
The site hosted in a Parisian mansion (Hotel Biron), Rue de Varenne close to les invalids, since 1919 thanks to the contribution of art from Rodin in exchange for the creation of a national museum in his honour. A public garden of almost 3 hectares surrounding the Musée Rodin includes a wooded park, a chapel and a pond.
The Meudon site, situated in Paris’ suburbs lies in the ‘Villa des Brillants’, a bourgeois residence close to the River Seine. The Musee Rodin, in both sites, holds a large collection Rodins’ artwork composed of 6600 sculptures, 8000 dessins, 8000 ancient photographs and 7000 diverse works of art. L’hotel Biron has thus the largest collection of art work by Rodin in the world including his most famous work: « le Cri », « le Penseur » and « le Baiser ».
