Chapelle expiatoire

The Chapelle expiatoire is located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. The chapel is dedicated to King Louis XVI and his Queen, Marie Antoinette, guillotined during the french revolution, although the King and the Queen are now buried in the Basilica of Saint Denis. The Chapel is located in the square Louis XVI, along the boulevard Haussman. It is surrounded by an enclosed cloister-like precinct which isolates the place from the outside. In this architectural masterpiece take place religious services in honour of the victims of the revolutionary exactions. The elegance and the calm of the place are really congenial in this area of Paris. The Chapel became a French historical monument in 1914 and is one of the most remarkable edifice in Paris. You will enjoy the outside garden for its serenity and the inside of the Chapel for its architectural beauty.
