Arc de triomphe
The Arc de Triomphe is a monument in Paris that stands in the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle, (also known as the Place de l'Étoile), 2,2 km from the Place de la Concorde.
The monument stands 50 m in height, 45 m wide and 22 m deep. The large vault is 29.19 m high and 14.62 m wide. The small vault is 18.68 m high and 8.44 m wide.
The Place de l’Etoile is a enormous round about, twelve avenues dating from the 19th century, created under the orders of the Haussmann Baron. These avenues, radiating around the Arc de Triomphe as a form of a star, are the Kléber avenue, the Grande-Armée avenue, the Wagram avenue and of course the Champs-Élysées avenue. The coloured cobble stones are drawned on the floor of the two Stars square. The points of one of the stars reaches the middle of the avenues whereas the other star’s points goes between the avenues.
