Visit "au coeur des plans-reliefs : l'oeil de l'historien"

An in-depth guided tour of the unique collection of relief plans, accompanied by Grégoire Binois, 
specialist in 18th century military geography. Evolution of techniques for representing space (maps, 
figurative views, models), transformation of landscapes (city/countryside), social and political 
consequences of the “military revolution”, mobilization of the arts by those in power…

More than a simple presentation of the models, it is an immersion in the France of the Ancien Régime 
which is offered to you here, in the exceptional setting of the Hôtel national des Invalides.

Grégoire Binois is an associate professor and doctor of history, specialist in military geography and the 
construction of the monarchical state in the 18th century.
