Tourism - Grand Est
Alsace is a cultural, historical and administrative region located in the North east of France. Alsace is divided into two departments, Bas-Rhin in the north and Haut-Rhin in the south of the region. The regional council is located in Strasbourg, which is also the largest urban zone before Mulhouse and Colmar.
Alsace enjoys a great variety of landscapes and climates. Mainly consisting of plains and hills, the region also has reliefs that allow numerous outdoors and mountain activities as well as great views on the plains and Alsatians cities. There are over 250 museums notably the one of Unterlinden in Colmar, the largest car museum in the world housing the famous Schlumpf collection in Mulhouse. Also, Alsace has a large number of great castles such as the castle of Haut Koenigsbourg, which is the most famous. Food wise, Alsace is very well known for its wines, sauerkraut, cheeses and deep-fried carps.
Finally, all transports facilities are well developed and allow travelling to, from and around Alsace easily.
