Tourism Selestat
Sélestat lies at the heart of Alsace, 22 km north of Colmar and 47 km south of Strasbourg. Located on the left bank of the Ill, the city leans against the Vosges.
It communicates with Lorraine by the Maurice Lemaire tunnel known as the tunnel Sainte Marie-aux-Mines. Saint Die des Vosges is 43 km west. The city lies close to Germany, some twenty miles east.
A nature preserve on the outskirts of the city. The Illwald, Regional Nature Reserve of Sélestat Ried, one of the largest alluvial forest in one piece in France: 1 500 hectares of greenery, majestic trees and an exceptional wildlife that unfolds against the most attention.
The Haut-Koenigsbourg is located about 12 km west of Selestat.
