Tourism Châlons-en-Champagne
The town of Châlons-in-Champagne, prefecture of the Marne, constitutes an interesting stage at the time of a Champagne stay. It indeed has many monuments, which they are monk, administrative or civil. But it is mainly by its religious buildings that the city is distinguished: the St-Etienne cathedral ** and the collegial one Our-lady-in-Be worth ***, alone, justify a stay with Châlons-in-Champagne. The streets are in addition marked out other religious monuments, whether they are churches or old convents. A walk ** in the streets of this peaceful city will make you discover the other Châlons-in-Champagne richnesses. It has in particular Champagne traditional houses, characterized by the use of the wood side and cob. The city also counts many private mansions, of which some constitute good examples of typical construction of the area, known as ?Champagne equipment?, combining brick and chalk. Lastly, Châlons-in-Champagne profits from a pleasant natural environment, from which it knew to draw part. The city is crossed by several rivers, which mark out its streets. In the South of the centre town, the public gardens occupy a vast space and offer a walk of most amusing. To discover all these richnesses, the tourist office proposes various guided visits. It is also possible, from May to September, to carry out walks in the boat on the rivers which cross Châlons-in-Champagne. A way pleasant to discover its various monuments. But the Châlons-in-Champagne inheritance is also appreciated in its museums. Do not miss, in particular, the museum of the Art schools and Archaeology, as well as the remarkable concise collection of the museum of the Cloister Our-Lady-in-Are worth.
