Tourism Charleville-Mézières
Charleville-Mezieres is the main city of the Ardennes department with a population of about 55,000 inhabitants. The city is located on the banks of the Meuse. Charleville is born of the will of an Italian prince in the early eighteenth century when Mézières dates from the Middle Ages.
In the lovely and charming historic center, you can find the remarkable Place Ducale, the major tourist attraction of Charleville-Mezieres, which is similar to the famous Place des Vosges of Paris. The Place Ducale is an architectural gem from the seventeenth century near the banks of the Meuse and the pedestrian streets where you can go shopping.
Charleville-Mezieres is the birthplace of the French poet Rimbaud, where he also lived the most part of his life, you can visit a museum dedicated to him located on the banks of the Meuse in an old water mill and the house Rimbaud.
