Musée Arthur Rimbaud

Arthur Rimbaud was born in Charleville. The museum "Arthur Rimabud" was built in an old water mill, which is a National Heritage Site of France. A permanent collection is on the ground floor. Temporary exhibitions and pictures are on the first floor. For further details, "La Maison des Ailleurs" is located opposite the museum. The poet lived in this house. A tourist road "Rimbaud-Verlaine" is available from the mill.

Musée de l'Ardenne

The musée de l'Ardenne is located place Ducale, in the town centre. The musem is about the history of the French department "Les Ardennes". It is one of the most beautiful museum of the area. Different collections are permanent and temporary : the Royal Arms Manufacture of Charleville, its industrial past, the story of the marionettes of the city...

Le grand Marionnettiste

Charleville-Mézières is known as the capital city of the marionettes and siege of the International Puppetry Association. Every summer, a marionette festival gather around 150.000 spectators and 250 artists from the 5 continents. If you do not go to Charleville-Mézières during the summer, you will be able to visit a high marionette "Le grand Marionnettiste" in a huge clock. It is a permanent attraction near place Ducale. Every day, 12 pictures represent the legend of Aymon's four sons. 

Sedan is a French town of Art and History. It is mainly known for its castle. 

Castle of Sedan

The castle of Sedan is a beautiful place to visit on Sunday morning. It was built in 1424 and used as fortifications and a royal residence. This castle is an important monument of the French History. A part of the castle is dedicated to the battle of 1870 between France and Russia. Guided tours are available. Temporary exhibitions and concerts are regularly planned.

Le Dijonval

Before leaving Sedan, Le Dijonval is a Royal Manufacture of Sheets, near the castle. This monument is a National Heritage Site of France. It was created in 1646. Le Dijonval was the first manufacturing location of sheets. This former factory became a palace and is open to the public. The courtyard is the only place open. 

Maison de la dernière cartouche

Bazeilles is 20km far from Sedan. The museum "Maison de la dernière cartouche" is a nice place to end this beautiful week-end. It is about the story of the battle of Sedan in 1870. The museum is a National Heritage Site of France and a former home for the Division Bleue soldiers. A permanent collection of different documents is on the ground floor. Lots of objects and pictures are on the first floor.

Balance
