The church Saint-Étienne
The Saint-Etienne church was built at the 13rd century under request of Robert II of Dreux. It is dedicated to Saint-Etienne, the first martyr of Christendom.
From Gothic and Roman styles, the church got a rose stained glass window of the 13rd century above the choir, sculptures and woodworks of the 15th century. Outside the stengthening arches are decorated of gargoyles and a tower on the front. The high arrow tower above the city can be seen far from the plateau of the Brie.
The Saint-Etienne church was registered as an Historic building on August 1840.
In 1886, the clergy decided to sell the large dresser of the organ from the 17th and 18th centuries.
At the beginning of the 20th century, some parts of the building were in bad condition. The roof was repaired in 1905. After the First World War, a French-American committee took part in the restoration of the Saint-Etienne church.
On May 30, 1927, the first celebration in memory of the American soldiers died for France was done with Marshall Joffre who sealed a
commemorative tablet on a pillar, close to the altar.

The town concil bought the castle in 1803 and resells it ten years later, then bought it again in 1923.
