Bastion - Musée Jean Cocteau
The Jean Cocteau Museum stands in a Bastion of the seventeenth century in the hollow of the pier of the port of Menton. It is in strolling around that Jean Cocteau discovered this building who was no longer a defensive moment. Captivated, he made one last painting, his memorial, then decided to oversee the restoration of the fort.
He conceived the design of a large number of items in the structure of the museum, such as the mosaics decorating the floor or those on the ground floor. It is also to him that we owe the windows wrought iron that keep its treasured ceramic zoomorphic.
The visitor found in this museum the whole universe of the artist and can soak up the pleasures and torments, uncertainties and bring his research, but more importantly, his love for the city of Menton.
