Le bateau Vixit

Come to Discover a monument of French heritage moored in the port of Beaucaire : Vixit boat is the oldest boat in France.

Vixit from 1862 to our days through the two world wars and sunk 3 times undergoing many changes. Initially powered by a steam engine and run through a pair of paddle wheels at the rear, he was appointed Paquebot 15 and was part of the line of 24 ships built in France between 1800 and 1900.

Recorded as one of the first steamboat history it has changed its name in 1952 to become Vixit. After retirement business in 1990, the ship was converted in 1992 houseboat.
