Long time ago, in the the banks of the Charente river, the village of Saint Simon was very busy port... It was the time of barges that travelled the river, loaded with barrels of brandy, paper, salt, wood, stone and much more. Until the 19th century, Saint Simon was a obligatory stop while on the river since three shipyards were located here.
