The Cité Internationale de la Bande Dessinée et de l’image (CNBDI) is located in the heart of the great center of the image developed in the department of Charente contributing to its national and international fame and confirmed Angouleme as the comics world capital.

The Cité Internationale de la Bande Dessinée et de l’Image houses a museum of comics, temporary exhibitions, a heritage library, a public library, an international residence for artists (authors' home), a reference library, a cinema of art, test and research, an Internet consulting space and a panoramic pub in three stunning buildings down the ramparts of Angouleme on the banks of the Charente river.

Inaugurated in 1990 by the former Culture Minister Jack Lang, the Cité Internationale de la Bande Dessinée et de l’Image is both a museum, a place of conservation, research, training and exposure. With over fifteen years of existence, the Cité Internationale de la Bande Dessinée et de l’Image has contributed to create dozens of exhibitions dedicated to the greatest authors and the mainstream of the 9th art, production of audiovisual documents and the establishment of training and entertainment visits for all audiences.
