  In 1955, the mayor Louis Indeau and his municipal council realize that the town hall of Vénat does not correspond any more to the needs for the commune: old building, important increase in the population, 776 inhabitants in 1821, for 7702 today, offset situation.

It is the treasure of Vénat: bracelets, points of lance, vases, pendeloques… (visible with the museum of Beautiful arts of Angouleme and the museum Holy Cross of Poitiers).

After the second world war, the sand of the basement of the pastures is used to build constructions of the villages of the commune. In 1965, under the impulse of the FCOL is born the Club from veil. One finds there a refreshment bar-restoration, a course of quad, a horse-gear of children. Lastly, several demonstrations animate the site. The most important event proceeds on August 14 with a nautical fireworks which gathers 20.000 spectators come from the four corners of the department.
