Musée d'Aquitaine
The musée d’Aquitaine represents the historical fact of Bordeaux and its region, from prehistory to the 20th century. Its collections are coming from several museums since the 18th century and are now gathered since 1960 into one archaeological museum called now the « musée d’Aquitaine ». Located in the heart of the city, it is housed in the former college of art and humanities, which was built at the end of the 19th century.
There are three different catégories of collection in the museum : Archaeology, history and ethnography. The collections stretch over 5,000 m2 and are presented in a chronological order focused on Bordeaux and its region.
An important part art section from Africa and Oceania is also on display.
