Tourism Cannes : a city under the projectors
Cannes, located in the south of France, is one of the best well known cities of the French Riviera that hosts the annual Cannes Film Festival. The population is about 70,000 inhabitants. The city is also famous for its various luxury shops, restaurants, and hotels. Once a small fishing village, Cannes is now a glamorous and expensive city considered to be one of the social hubs of Europe. During the festival, fans can see actors, celebrities, and directors up close and in person on the famous steps of the Palais des Festivals. Although its nightlife, casinos and high level restaurants gives Cannes a feel of exclusivity, Cannes does have alternatives to permit all types of budgets. Tourists can check out the beauty and architecture of Le Suquet, with its cobbled streets and great views, or sit at terraces and enjoy people watching.
