The old 'Hôtel du Parlement de Bretagne' or Gaillard castle is an old town house that was built in the 15th century.

Located within the city walls of Vannes, the castle hosts the 'musée d'histoire et d'archéologie'of the city. It was listed as a historical monument in 1913.

Saint-Patern is a quarter in the city of Vannes located in the centre outside the city walls.

This quarter always was very busy: tanner and craftsmen lived here in the middle ages. There are many half-timbered houses dating from this era. The Saint-Patern church is dedicated to the first bishop who came to Vannes in the 5th century.

One of Vannes's most photographed sites, the wash houses are located near the city walls and are reflected in the Marle river.
