Le Château des Roure

In the heart of the Gorges de l'Ardèche, experience an exceptional adventure in this fortress, and go through the 600 years of history of the castle.

The fortress is located in the south of the Ardèche, in Labastide de Virac in the heart of the Ardèche Gorges, between Vallon Pont d'Arc and Barjac.

Built on a rocky spur, the Roure castle offers a magnificent panorama over the Ardèche Gorges and the Gard valley.

Rebuilt in the 15th century, this fortress is a perfect example of medieval fortification.

The most powerful siege machines of the Middle Ages are reconstituted in the medieval park.  

The Roure castle was one of the largest silkworm farms in the Ardèche.

Today, our silkworm farmers continue to raise silkworms in the castle in order to preserve this know-how.
