Lemon festival

Created in the thirties , the Lemon Festival is now one of the three largest events in terms of attendance, the Côte d' Azur with Nice Carnival and the Grand Prix Formula 1 Monaco .

The Lemon Festival has no equivalent in the world : its parades of floats - or " corsi " - are certainly in the tradition of carnivals, but originality is , since 1934 , with the exclusive use of citrus for decorating tanks and monumental structures. Within the confines of Biovès Gardens , giant grounds of lemons and oranges are a couple of tables on a different theme each year.

Construction of tanks and sets involves more than 300 people: citrus growers , gardeners, designers, metalworkers ... 500,000 elastic and 130 tons of citrus are required.

This event is also an opportunity to discover the fascinating world of citrus in the Jardin du Palais Carnolès , which hosts the largest collection of citrus in Europe. Heritage Services proposes the tour, followed by a tasting.
