Tourism Vallon Pont d'Arc
Vallon Pont d'Arc is located near one of the most beautiful tourist sites in France: Gorges de l'Ardeche.
The famous Pont d'Arc, a natural arch over 30 meters tall carved by the river Ardèche and ranked Grand Site de France, gave him his name.
Vallon Pont d'Arc is also a hotbed of prehistory and cultural tourism. Since the discovery in 1994 of the painted cave called Chauvet Pont d'Arc named after its inventor, which contains numerous rock paintings, a museum exhibition has been installed to satisfy the curiosity of tourists.
The nature reserve of the gorges of Ardeche was created in 1980 to preserve this exceptional site.
Every summer many events are organized, the Lavender Festival and this year the Feast of the Olive, the days of prehistory with exhibitions, workshops, lectures and screenings that take place one week after August 15, the Marathon International des Gorges de l'Ardeche.
