Dax only has a small part of its city walls remaining, archeologists from the last century say that it is 'the most beautiful and the most complete Gallo-Roman walls left in France'.

Built in the 4th century, they formed a 4 m thick and 10 m high wall with 38 towers and 3 big gates.

When the city walls were demolished in the 19th century, altars and other objects were discovered.

The spa city of Dax is renowned for its muds and mineral waters. Located on River Adour, the city exploits five drill holes to extract 22 m3 of water needed for one spa client.
