Located in edge of the Bresse and the Valley of the Saone, with height of the town of Mason, the locality of Bridge of Veyle is since spring 1979 a point of passage for the itinerants of the Companions of the Duty on their Tour de France.
The framework of this Prévôté is the Castle of Bridge of Veyle, become following succession, property of the commune which then entrusted it to Workers' association in order to restore it and make a House of the Companions of it.
The initial construction of the Castle was directed by Lesdiguières, Count de Pont of Veyle, at the beginning of the XVII century; it built on an island formed by several arms of Veyle; the architecture is composed by a main building flanked of two decorated houses of terraces. This property became during the XVIIIcentury that Augustin de Férriol, Count de Pont of Veyle, then of his son Antoine, Marquis de Pont of Veyle, nobody very brilliant and cultivated who received in his pleasant residence of the distinguished persons, such Voltaire coming to subject his works; this last took pleasure to walk, among the boxwood gardens, the Easy Princess of Babylon, famous for its letters.
To the Revolution the castle belonged to a realtor, then about 1825, Amédée de Parceval buys the property (it was l' back grand' uncle of the General of Didier Saint), then by successive alliances it became that of Mr Henry Brossin de Saint Didier, which the son, the General Auguste Brossin de Saint Didier, inherited in 1938.
Saved degradation by time, the castle and its accesses are in end of the state of restoration; however, this share of our architectural heritage represents, with more d' a glance, the testimony bequeathed by our old, experts and builders d' antan.
Very close s' open the splendid park which Veyle crosses gently, spanned that and there by small bridges, metal or of wood, all of different styles. They make thus possible the walks among the paths and the wood which s' extend on nearly 17 hectares.
