Towns and villages in drôme

The first human activities that have developed in the Royans were all dependent on two issues sumptuousness of Vercors: water and wood. Already in the fifteenth century many mills were counted along all rivers. Early farmers learned to shape the wood. With mills and lathes, flour mills, oil presses, mills weaving came to enjoy the driving force of the water.

In an agricultural perspective, it is a country of mixed farming which has retained its old character, but it tends increasingly towards specialization with livestock and especially the cultivation of walnut. Many sites with cultural themes, entertaining, exciting or enchanting for young and old.

Griandioses panoramas of lush green plains rich flora unique, colorful flower stalls and sometimes rare wildlife (orchids, lilies martagon, gentian ...). Majestic forests in the cool of the woods and may be turning a strange encounter with large ungulates (chamois, deer, deer, sheep) or the many hosts of these sites in their natural habitat. The Royans is also a fascinating world of caves, underground rivers and waterfalls rushing in great falls of several tens of meters.
