Arc de Triomphe
Built in the 20's and 25 to celebrate the victories of Germanicus, Arc Antique Orange marks the northern entrance Aurausio (now Orange). At the time, the Arc was used to impress visitors.
In the Middle Ages, the building will be strengthened to serve as advanced at the entrance to the city bastion.
The monument will be restored in the 1820s by the architect Auguste Caristie. Since 1981, Antique Arc is classified World Heritage by UNESCO.
