Château des Adhémar
The castle of Adhemar is in the town of Montelimar in the Drome and the present castle was built in the twelfth century. The first castle was built in the eleventh century by the Count of Toulouse. Still nothing. It was a motte. Between the original keep and the chapel of Saint Michel and Saint Guitte, it was the stately home. In the twelfth century it passed into the hands of Adhemar, lords of Rochemaure, then Adhemar de Monteil, lords of Grignan.
The castle was built Adhemar in the second part of the twelfth century by Adhemar, who were at their peak and are building a palace. He who still graces the top of the town of Montelimar. In the fourteenth century tower was built Narbonne only surviving portion of a castle belonging to the Counts of Valentino. The old castle belonged to the Pope. This castle was destroyed in 1580 by order of the Duke of Lesdiguières Protestant army chief of Dauphine to make room for a set of more modern fortifications. The stately home has been classified a historical monument in 1889.
