Doubs is a French department that is part of the Franche-Comté region located in eastern France. Doubs is surrounded by the departments of Jura, Haute-Saône, Belfort territory and the Swiss county of Vaud, Neuchatel and Jura.
Family holiday is popular in Doubs and many activities can be done in the holiday resort of Malbuisson located by the lake Saint-Point, which offers activities such as mountain biking, cross-country skiing, horse riding, kayaking and fishing. The largest Alpine skiing resort is located in Métabief.
Numerous sites and monuments are worth the visit in Doubs such as the Citadel of Besançon, the ‘Saline royale d’Arc-et-Senans’, the Joux Castel, the village of Lods, and the Monbéliard Castle.
Natural sites in the department are also worth a visit, especially in the Valley of the Two Lakes and their many beaches such as the beach of Perrières, the beach of the Landes in Malbuisson, the ones in Remoray, the beach of the Port, the one in Grangettes et the beach of Chaon.
In addition, they are many caves; the most famous are the cave of the Gouffre de Poudrey, the cave of the Glacière and the cave of Osselle.
