Tourism Douai
Douai, a town in the Northern Department was born of the river Scarpe. Its development is mainly due to its commercial activities.
In the Middle Ages, its main activities were growing wheat. Then from the sixteenth century, it became a university town.
When the revolution industruelle, the city began to mine coal. This makes the city of Douai, the capital of the Basin Coal Mines of Nord and Pas-de-Calais in the twentieth century.
Today, the city of Douai has several facets: center court, academia and industry. This is an ideal place that offers its residents a quality life.
