•  Cubjac, a typical village located along the river, well kown for its goat cheeses called 'Cujassous'

•  Excideuil, an ancient fortress dating from the 11th and 16th centuries
•  Sarliac-sur-l'Isle with its Romanesque church and castle
•  Antonne and its 'Bories castle': Renaissance castle dating from the 15th and 16th centuries with a gothic style kitchen, a collection of kitchenware. Massive stair cases, cellars and terraces.

Grand-Brassac with its amazing scuplted gate is a gem among the fortified churches of the region.

Paussac-et-Saint-Vivien, the land of the stone, in which many quarries are located and constitute the major business activity here. One of the most popular rock climbing site, one can see ancient dwelling digged inside the rock as well as dolmens of Peyre d'Ermale and Peyre Levage.

Numerous foot paths and rambles tracks are to be discover in the surroundings. The White Tower used to be a seigneury with castle and side buildings owned by the Count of Angouleme. Nearby, beautiful houses have been remarkably well preserved.

Finally, Tocane-Saint-Apre and its costume museum called 'La memoire des greniers'.
