The norwegian monument 'Le Matelot'

The Norwegian monument 'Le Matelot' was inaugurated on the 7th of June 2004 in the presence of his majesty Harald V of Norway.

The Monument was erected on PLace du Courbet in Hermanville-sur-Mer to commemorate the death of 34 norwegian soldiers who lost their lives on the 6th of June 1944.

The monument des marins de la Royal Navy is located on Felix Faure square. This monument is dedicated to all the sailors of all the marines of allied war and trade which perished in Normandy for the release of Europe.

Le Churchill Avre MK III commémore la mémoire de tous ceux qui ont combattu et sont morts sur ces plages. Le char AVRE Churchill «pétard» a été transféré à l'Imperial WarMuseum de Duxford. Il est remplacé par un char Centaur.

The Harold Pickersgill Avenue

The 6th of June 2004, the commune of Hermanville-sur-Mer inaugurated the Avenue Harold Pickersgill in the presence of his children. Harold Pickersgill lived in Mathieu for 1 month to organize the landing of Normandy. That is when he met a local young girl called Marie-Geneviève Lebret who became his wife.
