The Mascaret in Carentan
A peculiar natural phenomenon happens on high tide at the mouth of the rivers that flow into the Bay of Veys, it is called the Mascaret. It is a breaker that rises quickly upstream of the rivers Douve, Taute and Vire. To get the best view on this phenomenon, stand at the locks of the Carentan harbour half an hour before the opening.
