The crossing of the uncle tom

Aude Samama realizes now for ten years of comics, novels covers and illustrations for youth and media. It uses almost exclusively acrylic paint , which allows him to start his images without penciling and tweak until you get the desired result. Close to Expressionism , it seeks to translate emotions , the color is not to recreate reality, it is a way to evoke moods, sensations subjectively.

Thus, for " Crossing the Uncle Tom ," she increasingly sought to interpret the text to illustrate literally. Over the line, it is the masses that are central to his work , balance in the image and the movement of light or values . It favors the spontaneity of the first act , the strength of the gesture that emerges , so she tries to keep many traces of brushes that are often the construction of an image.

Alongside his illustrations and cartoons, she leads a work at oil painting on canvas that offers him the opportunity to push his images much further, playing on transparency and fluidity of the oil, this work just feed , questioning the acrylic to be always in a plastic research and continue to evolve.

The Franco- American Institute offers a new exhibition as part of Travelling Junior: an opportunity for adults and children to discover major themes such as slavery .
