Musée de Bretagne
The Musée de Bretagne, museum of heritage and society, is located with the Library of Rennes and the Espace des Sciences snce 2005 in the cultural center « Les Champs Libres » in Rennes city center. Independant, it is the first regional museum and has inspired other projects in France. The Musée de Bretagne preserves and offers to the public since 1856, a representation of the history of Britanny from its origins until nowadays through its old and varied collections of 2 300 works and objects of art.
As a museum of society, it is also a place for reflection on the past and future related to the subjects to which it belongs: the Britanny of the earth, sea, thought, landscape, labor, celebrations, politics, art and modern Britanny. Associated with the Ecomusée du Pays de Rennes, The Musée de Bretagne is visited as a city with streets and squares. Multimedia devices allow visitors to add information to present data and the Breton language.
