CHATEAU AUZIAS

It is a stone's throw from the City of Carcassonne and the Canal de Midi that Château Auzias Paretlongue operates a vineyard of nearly 110 hectares in the pure Languedoc tradition.

The Château thus produces incomparable wines, in the “IGP Cité de Carcassonne” appellations combining finesse and elegance, and in the “AOP Cabardès” appellation combining power and the richness of Languedoc.

If there are historic places of viticulture in France, Château Auzias is certainly one of them.

Ancient writings mention the existence of a splendid Gallo-Roman villa on the estate, built at the time of the Gallic Wars and destroyed by the Visigoth invaders in 450 AD.

Construction of the estate began in the 12th century, in the middle of the Cathar period, when the land was given to the Church, which established the Priory of Notre Dame de Pareti Longi there.

Located near Penglai, this large wine estate is the result of a collaboration between France and China. This "joint venture" is a successful blend of French and Chinese know-how. With a first harvest in autumn 2007, proof has been given that China benefits from the ideal climate for producing great wine. Because it is a quality wine that the Château produces, thanks to its vineyards located on the edge of the Yellow Sea - therefore benefiting from a temperate climate favourable to production - and a clay-limestone soil, composed of flint and fine gravel, at a latitude identical to that of some of our Aude wines.

The Auzias family imported to China the know-how that it already uses near the medieval city of Carcassonne. For its first harvest, the estate produced some 50,000 bottles (a white vintage – Chardonnay grape variety – and two red vintages – prestige and premium). The Chinese production of the Reifeng-Auzias estate is made up of Cabernet, Merlot, Grenache, Syrah and the famous Chardonnay, which is a great accompaniment to seafood from the Shandong region.
