Musée du Louvres-Lens
The Louvres-Lens Museum is an art museum located in Lens, in Pas-de-Calais (Northern France). It is funded by the region, and built on a former land which was dedicated to the mines of the city. The museum area covers around 20 hectares of land. Xavier Dectot is the director of the museum.
This "second Louvres Museum" has institutional links with The Louvres in Paris. It has been opened to the public since december 4th, 2012. Both national and international, temporary and semi-permanent exhibitions are constantly renewed. Lots of transports lead to the museum and many tourists come and visit the Louvres-Lens Museum (around 500.000 each year).
