Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dijon


The Musée des Beaux-Arts is located in the beautiful historical center of Dijon which is an architectural preserved area. The museum is one of the finest museums in France and is the only one with the Louvre, to be housed in a palace: the former hotel of the Dukes of Burgundy. The exceptional architecture is a major heritage in the art and the history of Burgundy from the late Middle Ages to today.

The Museum of Fine Arts in Dijon is also one of the oldest museums in France by its origins dating back to the Ancien Regime, and was founded in 1787 to facilitate the teaching of students in the School of Drawing qnd opened to the public since 1799. The Museum of Fine Arts is among the first French museums by its rich collections and masterpieces of the late Middle Ages.

Its collections, both from the founding period of the Revolution and the curiosity of collectors, invites visitors to discover a variety of Egyptian art in the twenty-first century.
