Musée national de la marine à Brest
The National Maritime Museum consists of several museums, one of which is located in Brest in the medieval castle of the city. The museum traces the history of the arsenal and the largest fleets of high sea from the commander Primauguet the fifteenth century to the current frigates.
The variety of permanent collections consist of ships, model, marine tools, to understand the business of the sea Temporary exhibitions are held regularly and encourage an interdisciplinary educational use, history to literature, geography to mathematics. Among the works presented, sculpture and painting naval enable the development of thematic exhibition in connection with the history of art. The sea was indeed a source of inspiration for many artists.
