Tourism Brest
Brest is a city located in the north west of France, taking part of the Brittany region and the Finistère department.
It is famous for its massive bridge called le ‘Pont de Recouvrance’, the ‘rue de Siam’ and its military arsenal. The Tour Tanguy and the Castle are the most ancient monuments in Brest.
The city of Brest does not have much remaining historical buildings left, apart from a few monuments such as the Castle and the Tour Tanguy. Indeed, near all was obliterated by Allied air attacks during World War II. Brest was rebuilt quickly using a large amount of concrete after the war to provide housing for its residents, many of whom lived in temporary accommodation for a whole generation.
In Recouvrance, the left bank of the town, there remains an authentic street of the 17th century, Saint-Malo Street.
