Observatoire Puimichel

The observatory is located in a small village in the Alpes de Haute-Provence, Puimichel. It has become an international meeting place for amateur astronomers.

Anyone visiting the observatory will find several telescopes at their disposal.

These telescopes are built and maintained by the famous astrophotographer Dany Cardoen.

One of these instruments is the famous T1m, the largest amateur telescope in the world.

This 1060mm diameter Newtonian telescope is installed in a dome and is used by amateur astronomers in small groups of about 5 people.

It is also possible to rent this instrument for a more specific use.

On nights when the telescope is not booked, the night technician will divide the telescope time between the various observers present.
