In the Hautes-Alpes, located between the Parc des Ecrins and Queyras, visitors will discover a surprising town where 140 people live: the fortress of Mont-Dauphin.
This village is a veritable fortress fortifé imagined and built according to plans by Vauban in the late seventeenth century to guard against possible invasion as that which occurred in 1692.
Located atop a rocky plateau, this citadel is listed as monuments but not only. Since 2008, it is also part of building a World Heritage by UNESCO as a major site of Vauban.
