Abbaye du Mont Saint-Michel
One night in October 708, the Archangel Saint Michael appeared to Aubert, the Bishop of Avranche, ordering him to build a sanctuary on Mount Tombe, an island of granite standing in the middle of the bay. In 966 the Benedictine Order was established and the monks began building a massive church on the top of Mount. In the 13th century, new buildings were built including six beautiful halls, named : The Wonder. In the 15th century, following the collapse of the Romanesque choir, a flamboyant gothic style choir was built to replace it.
Here, you will discover a great architectural complex including three different styles : Romanesque, gothic, and flaboyant gothic.
