Pont Vieux de Béziers
Le Pont Vieux built in Beziers in the Herault, is a Romanesque building dating from the twelfth century, which can cross the Orb. He was for a very long time, the only way to get to Toulouse from the path of Provence. In the nineteenth century, the bridge consisted of 19 arches, measuring 260 meters long and had a width of 5 meters. However, this stone bridge was not in very good condition. It seemed too narrow and was quite dangerous for people to become involved. This is why it underwent several revisions during this century.
This monument is entered on the list of historical monuments in 1963. Today, le Pont Vieux is crossed on foot or by car, but is one way. Indeed, it can borrow from that out of Béziers, going towards Narbonne. This building is impressive, it is possible to photograph while standing on the Pont Neuf, for example.
