Tourism Le Havre : The harbour city
Le Havre is a city of the department of Seine Maritime in Haute Normandie region in northwestern France.
Le Havre is also the busiest port in France after Marseille. In the past, Le Havre was the port of Paris, the goods being chartered ships from the ocean going barges on the Seine to Paris. Le Havre has been almost entirely destroyed by bombing during the Second World War.
The architect Auguste Perret, who undertook the reconstruction of the city using only reinforced concrete. The city was later elected as World Heritage by UNESCO.
Priory Graville worth the visit and the view of Fort Saint Adresse is superb for its hanging gardens as well from the Seine estuary.
Cross the Seine on the famous Normandie Bridge leading to Honfleur, one of the most beautiful villages of Normandie. Strolling in the upscale neighborhood of Saint Adresse overlooking the bay of Le Havre. Visit the port by boat or bicycle. Make a bike ride on the beach and downtown. Getting to Harfleur, a beautiful medieval village. Montivilliers, a few miles worth a visit. Enjoy the forest Montgeon, located in the city center.
