Nestled in the heart of Perigord Noir, about 20 km from Sarlat and not far from Lascaux Caves, the village of Bournat offers to a unique experience to the visitors, a time travel that goes back 100 years ago.

With daily routine activities, the different jobs and its gastronomy back then. A true voyage, ideal for a relaxing and entertaining family day out.

• Free tour (1 hour): This tour allows you to discover the castle at your own pace. You will see an important arm and armour collection of about 200 items coming from all over Europe. The tour is designed so as to be educational, hence the audiovisual equipments, video games and scale models along the way. Outside, powerfull medieval war machines have been recreated (guns, different types of catapult). a medieval garden end up the tour nicely. A leaflet is available in 6 languages (free).
• Guided tour (45 min): In addition to the free tour, the guided tour outside goes into detail on the military architecture and the art of war in medieval time. The guide will explain the evolution of the battle techniques  as well as the different defence styles. Booking only (except July and August).
• Guided tour with a try at the catapult (1 hour): This guided tour can be added with a try at the 'trebuchet' a powerful medieval catapult. This experience will allow the visitors to see and understand how this machine works. Booking only, all year round (except on July and August).
• Historical tour (45 min): a comedian will conduct the visit in the castle and will tell you many anecdotes and surprises: Jeannette, the cook of Castelnaud will lead you around the castle in a theatrical way and she will tell you all the stories about war , life and food. Groups from 10 people. Booking only all year round (except on July and August).

This place is easy to find, thanks to the signboards stating 'Parc Rahan' or 'Site du Conquil', cross the little bridge on the Vezere River after having passed the village of Saint Leon then continue on few hundred metres.

There, Rahan will welcome you. Already the path that leads to the park has a prehistory feel about it. Then you'll pass by a multicolour lava stream.

The park is located on a beautiful woodland that is very pleasant even when the weather is very hot. Numerous activities are available. a prehistory reconstitution has been created to show the life of the people and animal back then, with a real cave where prehistorical people used to live in that era.
