Putanges

Putanges attracts many tourists who are charmed by the beauty of this site, the picturesque aspect of the houses and its famous bell tower looming over the river Orne. the beautiful landscapes, the subtlety of the day light also seduce many painters.

The Rabodanges artificial lake is located in the Orne department in the Basse-Normandie region. It was created in 1960 by EDF to produce electricity. the lake is 6 km long and 250 m width.

The Gorges Sauvages is a remarkable site where the granite blocks are carved by the stream. Many otters lives here.

The ruins of the old St Aubert church present vestiges of a romanesque porch.

The castle of Ry was built between 1785 to 1788 for the Count of Vigneral. The design of Hotel Matignon in Paris inspired the plans for the castle of Ry. On the south side, the castle looms over a hilly park and an artificial river.

The castle is private property still owned by the Vigneral family who live in Ri since the beginning of the 17th century.

The Oëtre rock, also called Oitre, is located in the heart of 'Suisse Normande' (Norman Switzerland) on the commune of Saint-Philibert-sur-Orne, not far from the border between Calvados and Orne department and at an equal distance from Thury-Harcourt and Ecouche. It is one of the most prestigious panoramic view in the west of France.
