Built on the valleys, Turdine and Taret, the city gains little by little the hills which surround it. However, the countryside is largely preserved, the third of the common wooded residence. The latter is in charge of its maintenance. It carried out the repair of the bell-tower and the sacristy, the consolidation of the frame, the electrification of the bells, the sealing of the stained glasses and the installation of the heating.

Since December 8, 1999, the vault is clarified thanks to 20 projectors.

From 1863 to 1866, the viaduct of Tarare allowing is built the rail link Lyon - Roanne. Its characteristics: length: 373 m; 20 arches of 12 m opening, 1 power station of 29.6 m; maximum height (above the bed of Turdine): 26 m; out of stone of size coming from Bully and Villebois.

On August 28, 1944, the viaduct is bombarded by Royal Air Force. None the score of released bombs reached it, causing only light wounds with two workers working in factories in the vicinity.
